Hawa Hawai

Hawa Hawai Lyrics

Verse 1

I am the princess of your dreams and I shine across every single heart. My tresses are like the clouds and when I turn , there is lightning. I have come here to cause chaos, and they call me Hawa Hawaii.

FACT -Here, the protagonist says she is called Hawa Hawaii, or the winds from Hawaii, which is a nod to the fact that she is an impostor in the scene.

Lyricist, Javed Akhtar brings out the essence of the character in this verse. Hawa (Winds) are calm in nature but she says she is here to only cause a storm. When the winds go wild, it results in a storm.

On the surface, this woman may seem calm but she has the potential to cause a storm.

WORD -Khwaabon: Dreams, Shehzaadi: Princess, Zulfein: Tresses, Bijli: Lightning, Angdaai - Turn.

Verse 2

Oh naive folks! do not think of me as someone innocent like you. I am actually the queen of serpents. I am not here to just drink water, I aim to bite instead.

I am clever enough to steal pearls from the sea and light from a lamp. I can make fire from rocks, and steal secrets that reside deep down inside you hearts, just as easily.

WORD - Naadanon: Naive people, Saanpon: Snakes, Saagar: Sea, Patthar: Rock, Seene: Heart.

Verse 3

Oh sweetheart! If I ever find out that you’ve hidden something from me, you’ll find out why they call me Hawa Hawaii.

FACT - The fact that the singer Kavita Krishnamurthy says “Jeenu” instead of “Jaanu” in the first line, was a blunder.

But the whole take was so fantastic that the composer, Laxmikant Pyarelal, refused to record the song again - From YourStory.
