Rice Plate – Der Aayad Lyrics
On Der Aayad, Gulzar ponders upon the significance of our existence on this large planet called Earth. As per the estimation of science, Gulzar says our planet’s lifespan must be around 8 billion years.
TRIVIA- Earth was formed around 4.5 billion years ago and unlike what many believe it is not actually round in shape. It represents an oblate spheroid – meaning the top and bottom of the planet are a little flattened.
ki umr to beet chuki hai
kitni der laga di tumne aane mein
aur ab milkar kis duniya ki
duniyadaari soch rahi ho
Around four to six billion years have already passed us and Gulzar points out that it took us so long to arrive on planet Earth. Now that we’re here, he wonders why we’re so obsessed with insignificant worldly affairs?
Gulzar refers to our cosmic insignificance when compared to the vastness of our galaxy. Far too often, we place too much emphasis on petty matters concerning us without realizing that our time on this planet is limited. We might as well spread love while we’re here.
aao chalein ab teen hi billion saal bache hain
aath hi billion umr zameen ki hogi shayad
Gulzar questions the people and their obsession of focusing on religion and caste which creates hatred and divide. He urges us to walk together as one for the limited time that we’re on this planet. He once again emphasizes that the earth’s lifespan must be around 8 billion years of which he believes only 3 billion years remain.
