Lyrics
Sawaar Loon
Sawaar Loon Lyrics
Verse 1

This breeze has upset the weather

The bee has taken away the brilliance (which may mean Honey) of flowers

The way of life seems to be changing

With that why dont I also change the mood of my heart?

Sawaar loon - basically means to enhance/decorate/beautify

Trivia- The singer of the song Monali Thakur was an Indian Idol contestant who got eliminated at the ninth place. However she later sang Bengali songs and then rose to fame by singing a track for the movie, Race and also acted in Bengali and Hindi Films

Verse 2

The verandas are old (my heart) but there is a new sunlight (of his love)

To the one who is knocking on the door of my eyes

Whos been up to this mischief? Forgetting every social norm

What should I call him?

WORD- Baramade- Veranda/ Open Gallery

FACT- Trivia - Lootera is inspired by the novel The Last Leaf by O’Henry which was based in Greenwich Village, but director Vikranaditya Motwani adopted it to suit a Bengali setup and based this period drama Lootera in 1953, molding it in a plot which also represents the Zamindaari system of that time

Verse 3

These cuckoos are like postmen

Reading these flirty letters with just their sweet sounds

Tell them not to hide

And let me know who has written them

So that I can keep them away (protect) them from every evil

CONTEXT- This verse makes a comparison between the cuckoo bird and a postman. Amazing wordplay by lyricist, Amitabh Bhattacharya. Cuckoos are often highly secretive in nature. They hardly reveal themselves and call out using simple sounds or even hiccups. They are more often heard than seen and move around in solitude rather than in groups
