Jaaledar palkon me, Khwab jab sarakte hai
Lagta hai wo zinda hai, Ha lagta hain woh zinda hai
In those familiar eyes
When dreams creep in through the web of eyelashes
It feels as though she is alive, full of life
WORD - Jaaledar – web
Roshni joh hoti hain
Lagta hai wo zinda hai, Woh zinda hai
Chhu bhi lo wo zinda hai
Chhu ke dekho zinda hai
When a lamp lights up, during a woeful evening
A glow illuminates
And it feels as though she is alive
You can even touch her
Feel and you will see that she is alive
TRIVIA- The movie is based on the real life Noida double murder case.
A 14 year old girl and a domestic help were found dead in 2008 at the girl’s house.
Soyi nahi jaag rahin hai
Ek khwab toh khoya kahi
Ek khwab woh maang rahi hain
Ankh se chaho to, Aaj bhi chhu lo use,
Wo zinda hai.
Sleep now seems faded
She is asleep but still awake somehow
A dream seems missing
She just is asking for a new one instead
You can touch her with your eyes even today
She is alive
TRIVIA- Director, Vishal Bharadwaj was inspired by a 1950 Japanese film, Rashomon. Just like in the Indian murder case, the characters in Rashomon provide alternate and contradicting statements of the same incident throughout the investigation.
In all the verbal arguments
In the ink of all the papers
In every new testimony
It feels as though she is alive
WORD- Dalilon – arguments, Saahi – ink
If you look closer
There still exists a hazy reflection of that face
Somewhere in that mirror
Yes it seems as though she is alive
TRIVIA- The movie was directed by Meghna Gulzar, the daughter of lyricist, Gulzar.
Meghna started her writing career as a freelance writer for the Times of India. Talvar is her fourth film as director.
